“Successful people do consistently what others do occasionally.” – Craig Groeschel
Every day – Every. Single. Day – You are faced with decisions. The thing is, they aren’t always big. They are seemingly micro decisions, and they will determine your destiny.
Wow! Stop and let that sink in for a moment. Every decision you make today will either take you closer to or farther from your destiny.
Maybe you have to repeat this statement to yourself as you wobble out of bed to hit the gym, or unroll your mat.
“Successful people do consistently what others do occasionally.”
Say it as you are saying “NO” to that extra slice of dessert.
Say it when you feel tempted to let your mind wander into sinful places (the places you know God wants to deliver you from!).
How is your self-discipline?
What’s one area of your life that needs more discipline?
What’s one thing you can start doing NOW to start that habit?
You know it, because the answer just popped into your mind!
Will you commit to starting or stopping ONE thing for the next week that will bring you closer to the life you desire, the life you KNOW you’re called to?
First, you must remember…
It’s already in you!
“You see, God did not give us a cowardly spirit but a powerful, loving, and disciplined spirit.”
2 Timothy 1:7 (Voice).
He already GAVE you the discipline you need to execute the decisions you need to make. Next time you have a decision to make say this to yourself: “You know better!” Choose what you want MOST (life abundantly!) over what you want NOW (pleasure of the flesh/mind). Then…do better. God has infused your life with His spirit of discipline.
“So that…”
“I discipline my body and make it my slave so that after all this, after I have brought the gospel to others, I will still be qualified to win the prize.” 1 Corinthians 9:27 (Voice)
God doesn’t call us to strengthen our bodies and transform our minds for no reason. It’s so that we can be effective in reaching other people to become devoted followers of Jesus. If we are overwhelmed, anxious, and low on energy, how can we effectively do the things we are called to do? He wants us to live a life of abundance! And FREEDOM!
You’re not alone!
“Commit everything you do to the LORD. Trust him, and He will help you.”
Psalm 37:5 (NLT)
Whether it’s building a budget or lifting a barbell—Our good God stands ready to HELP you! All you need to do is ask for His guidance and the discipline and strength to accomplish what you feel led to do! We all know that area we need to spend more time on. What’s yours?
He shines brightest through your brokenness!
“Each time He said ‘My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.’ So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9 (NLT).
Some days it’s just harder to do the things we KNOW we need to do. Some days we fail. But, the Father so gently and patiently awaits to scoop you up and fill you with His grace and strength. On those days that you don’t have an ounce left to give, you can say: “Even if I fail, I’ll keep trying, because God is good!” Allow your weaknesses to show! It’s through those cracks that God will shine for the world to see!
I hope this will encourage you to stop and think about the little decisions you make today (and every day), and do what lines up with what you want most (health in your body, mind, relationships, finances, etc) and not just what you want now.
