Son Salutation A

November 26, 2017 By Kristen

In this video we break down a sun salutation A sequence (we like to say Son salutation). A Son salutation is a collection of postures that you do together in a flowing sequence, coordinating each pose with your breath.

Son Salutations are great for building some heat in the body and are often used as a warm-up. But they can be practiced on their own as a stand-alone workout and are a great way to sneak in some movement during your day (like while your coffee is brewing or if you need a quick pick-me-up in the afternoon!).

Son salutation A is a sequence made up of mountain pose, upward salute, standing forward fold, half standing forward fold, plank, chaturanga (pushup), up dog or cobra, and down dog. Flow through (in that order), and then back to half standing forward fold, standing forward fold, then back to upward salute and mountain pose. Then rinse and repeat!
