Meltdown in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1…
Hey there Momma! Are you on the verge of a meltdown with your kiddos (or recovering from one)? I can SO relate! Sometimes I find myself hiding in my room scrolling mindlessly through my news feed just to distract me from the messy house, arguing kids, and undone things on the to-do list.
One day I recently found myself sitting on my floor after losing my everloving mind on my sweet and precious [overactive, under challenged, bored] small humans. Here’s the crazy thing…I knew what I needed in that moment. I needed a deep breath and a redo. Yet, like you, I found myself scrolling and clicking to cover up the frustration, shame, and reality of my little meltdown.
So I decided to make a plan and try something new!
I grabbed my earbuds, lit my favorite candles, rubbed on some stress-away oils, turned on my favorite soothing playlist, and locked myself in my room. And I just BREATHED.
Yes, I put myself in time out! And…
IT. WAS. GLORIOUS!
What I wanted to do was numb myself with social media. But what my soul desperately needed in that moment was a few minutes alone with my Creator! To inhale His gift of life and redemption! So. Much. Grace.
I found a song that lasted about 5 minutes and committed to sitting there and breathing until the song was over. During that 5 minutes, I felt like God was breathing into me: “Kristen, you are loved. You are filled with Grace.” I just kept breathing in those truths.
Guess what?
When I was done I hopped on social media to tell you about it and I found a whole lot of other mommas suffering from the EXACT SAME THING!
Desperate for a time out?
My dear momma, why don’t you close this thing down for 5 minutes and care for yourself in a way that you know you need! Nourish your mind and heart as you receive beautiful Truth from the Lord.
