Have you ever heard a yoga teacher say “take a vinyasa” during a class or video and wondered what they were talking about?
Vinyasa yoga is a form of yoga that involves syncing your breath with movement, often flowing from one posture to the next in a dance-like sequence.
But when someone says “take a vinyasa,” they’re typically referring to a specific sequence of postures that are like a shortened Son Salutation, flowing from plank pose to up dog with a push-up in between (or chaturanga in yoga talk), to down dog.
It provides a way to add a little more movement and breath in between other postures.
