Hey friend! We’re doing a 10 part video series to challenge you to hit your mat for 10 days in a row, and this video is Day 6. We’ll help bring some consistency to your life, and we’ll also cover several different aspects of holy yoga. You’ll get a lot out of this challenge whether you’re brand new or no stranger to the mat, so don’t skip out!
If you’re finding us for the first time, head over here to start with Day 1.
In this video we’re covering backbends. Don’t freak out! Backbends can sound (and look) really intense, and some of them are. But give them a try even if you’re brand new or a little uneasy about them. There are ways to modify (make them easier) while you’re working on your form and building strength and flexibility.
Backbends are known to bring energy to your body, clarity to your mind, and relieve stress and anxiety.
They are also good for restoring your spine’s flexibility and reversing the effects of daily life; sitting at a desk or driving all day, picking up and holding children, etc.
Combined with a Christ centered focus and Biblical meditation, backbends are an excellent way to bring healing and restoration to your entire being; mind, body, and heart.
The scripture that comes to mind is Psalm 23. The psalmist says that God brings you rest, renews and strengthens you, and makes you whole again. And regardless of what you’re facing and how alone you may feel, God is with you, guides you, and protects you.
After this practice you are sure to leave your mat feeling energized in your body, clear and focused in your mind, and encouraged in your heart and soul.
